Course Description

The primary objective of this course is to provide students with a practical/applied approach to financial data analysis and the utilization of models in real-world scenarios. The course will be taught using appropriate software tools, including spreadsheets, gretl, and R. 

Key goals of the course include:

  1. Introduction to Financial Modeling: Familiarizing students with the concept of financial modeling and its importance in decision-making processes within various sectors.
  2. Utilization of Econometric Software: Equipping students with the skills to effectively use appropriate software tools such as spreadsheets, gretl and R for financial analysis and modeling.
  3. Focus on Financial Data Analysis: Providing a comprehensive understanding of financial data analysis techniques, including data cleaning, manipulation, visualization, and interpretation.
  4. Application of Econometric and Statistical Models: Empowering students to apply econometric and statistical models to real-world financial problems, enhancing their analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Upon completion of this course, students will have developed practical skills in financial data analysis and modeling. With a focus on real-world applications, participants will be well-equipped to analyze financial data, make informed decisions, and solve complex problems in diverse financial contexts.
